Oppn Women MPs Storm Treasury Benches Amid Protests: Inside PM Modi's Lok Sabha Speech Cancellation
The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day shortly after it convened for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s reply to the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address. Proceedings descended into chaos around 5 pm as Congress MPs entered the well and aisles, shouting slogans against the suspension of eight MPs during the Budget Session. Women MPs from the opposition blocked seats in the treasury benches, including the Prime Minister’s seat, and held up a banner reading “Do what is right.” Acting Speaker and BJP MP Sandhya Rai then adjourned the House. Outside Parliament, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra alleged that PM Modi skipped the House out of fear, also targeting Union Minister Nishikant Dubey. Rahul Gandhi echoed the charge, saying the Prime Minister avoided facing the truth, and reiterated that he intended to present Modi with former Army Chief General MM Naravane’s book on the 2020 eastern Ladakh standoff with China.
