Opposition Cites ‘Abuse Of Office’ In No-Confidence Move Against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla
The opposition on Tuesday moved a no-confidence notice against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, deepening the ongoing confrontation with the ruling dispensation inside Parliament. Sources indicated that more than 100 MPs have signed the notice. Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi said the motion was submitted at 1.14 pm in accordance with Rule 94C of the Lok Sabha’s Rules of Procedure. Opposition parties have accused the Speaker of unfairly conducting House proceedings and limiting debate, allegations strongly denied by the government.
