PM Modi, Venezuela's Acting Prez Delcy Rodríguez Hold Phone Call, Agree To Expand Bilateral Ties
Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a phone call with Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Rodríguez, describing their discussion as a shared vision to take India–Venezuela relations to new heights. This was their first contact since the United States captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife earlier this month, and Rodríguez assumed the interim presidency. In an X post, Modi said both leaders agreed to further deepen and expand their bilateral partnership across trade and investment, energy, digital technology, health, agriculture and people-to-people ties. A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office confirmed the ongoing cooperation will also cover regional and global issues of mutual interest, underscoring close cooperation for the Global South. The leaders agreed to stay in touch as they work to strengthen strategic ties.
