Tamil Nadu CM Vijay Orders Shutdown Of 717 TASMAC Shops Near Temples, Schools And Bus Stands

In his first major decision after becoming Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Joseph Vijay has ordered the closure of 717 TASMAC liquor shops located near temples, schools, colleges and bus stands across the state. The move is being seen as a key social reform measure by the new TVK-led coalition government. Vijay has also announced free electricity benefits, women’s safety initiatives and anti-drug units while launching a sharp attack on the previous DMK government over the state’s finances.
