Tharoor Flags UN Charter Violations, Voices Concern Over US Action In Venezuela
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has voiced serious concern over the US action in Venezuela, saying it appears to violate key principles of international law and the UN Charter. Clarifying that he was speaking in a personal capacity, Tharoor underlined that respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity and non-use of force have long been central to India’s foreign policy. He observed that while the episode has not turned into a prolonged military conflict and an interim leadership has taken charge, the situation on the ground remains tense with reports of repression and arrests. Tharoor also stressed that a nation’s natural resources must remain under the control of its own people, adding that the developments have unsettled Indians across political lines.
