Tharoor Praises Parliamentary Panel Meet On India-EU, India-US Trade Deals
Delhi: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on Monday said the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs held extensive discussions on the India-EU and India-US trade agreements. He said nearly 17 to 18 MPs raised questions, which were answered in detail by the Foreign Secretary and the Chief Negotiator from the Commerce Ministry. Tharoor noted that while committee proceedings remain confidential, the responses addressed several concerns raised by members. He added that the interim trade agreement is likely to be finalised by the middle of next month. Tharoor expressed hope that once the interim deal is announced, many of the doubts and questions surrounding the trade agreements will be clarified, calling the meeting productive and positive.
