‘What Went Through The Administration’s Mind?’ Droupadi Murmu Flags Lapse, Mentions Mamata Banerjee

During her visit to Darjeeling, West Bengal, President Droupadi Murmu voiced concern over the arrangements for the International Santal Conference, saying the chosen venue made it difficult for members of the Santal community to attend. She questioned the administration’s decision, noting that a nearby open area was large enough to accommodate nearly five lakh people. The President said she was saddened that many Santals could not reach the conference because it was held far away. Murmu also referred to the absence of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the event, remarking that when the President visits a place, it is customary for the Chief Minister and ministers to be present, adding she considers herself a daughter of Bengal.
