BCCI Announces Cash Prize for Asia Cup Champions

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to award ₹21 crore to the Indian cricket team and its support staff for their unbeaten performance in the Asia Cup. This announcement came after India's victory over Pakistan in the final held in Dubai.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Sakiya remarked, "This was an extraordinary win, and as a celebration, we are pleased to announce a cash reward of ₹21 crore for the players and support staff who were part of the Indian team in the Asia Cup."

Details on Prize Distribution Remain Unclear

The board has not disclosed the individual amounts that each member will receive. Sakiya added, "This amount will be distributed, and it serves as a significant reward for our team, the Indian cricket board, and the people of India. We are immensely proud of our cricketers and support staff for their remarkable performance in Dubai."

BCCI's Strong Stance on Trophy Distribution

Previously, the board highlighted their hat-trick victory over Pakistan on their various social media platforms, stating, "Three strikes, zero response. Asia Cup champions. Message delivered. A reward of ₹21 crore for the team and support staff." BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla congratulated the team on their 3-0 victory against Pakistan, praising the outstanding performances of Tilak Varma and Kuldeep Yadav under pressure.

In a related matter, the BCCI plans to express strong opposition at the upcoming ICC meeting in November against Mohsin Naqvi, the head of the Asian Cricket Council, who failed to present the trophy to the champion team after they declined to accept it from him. Sakiya justified the team's refusal, stating that they cannot accept a trophy from someone who is "waging war against our country." India triumphed over Pakistan by five wickets in the final.

Captain's Gesture Towards Armed Forces

Additionally, Indian captain Surya Kumar Yadav shared an emotional message after winning the Asia Cup 2025 title, announcing that he would donate his entire match fee from the tournament to the Indian Armed Forces. He also expressed his disappointment towards the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) for not awarding the champion team with the trophy despite their hard work.
