One of the biggest films of the year, Kantara Chapter 1 finally released in theatres on October 2 amid mixed to positive response and managed to record a good opening day in India.

However, the Rishab Shetty starrer isn’t remotely close to what other big pan-Indian films like KGF: Chapter 2, Pushpa 2: The Rule and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion made on day one.

Opening Day Box Office

The Rishab Shetty directorial isn’t the kind of pan-India phenomenon that many expected it to be. However, the day one biz is still strong for a film belonging to the Kannada film industry.

Kantara Chapter 1 has reportedly made Rs 60 crore on day one in India with Rs 19 crore approx coming from the Hindi version alone.

The Hindi box office opening day of Kantara Chapter 1

is less than half of what KGF: Chapter 2 (Rs 53.95 crore)made on day one back in 2022.

And is also way below Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’s Rs 41 crore and Rs 72 crore day one of Pushpa 2: The Rule.

This also suggests that the film may not travel the distance in Hindi and hit massive numbers and may barely hit Rs 150 crore lifetime.

Having said that, the Hindi day one of Kantara Chapter 1

was still almost double of the new Bollywood release — Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari.

Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari Barely Manages Double Digits Opening Day

The film directed by Shashank Khaitan and also starring Sanya Malhotra and Rohit Saraf collected approximately Rs 10 crore on day one.

The number should’ve been higher considering October 2 was a national holiday due to Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra.

The double digit opening day still gives the film a chance at the box office if it manages to stay in the same range during its 4-day extended opening weekend.
