'Massive win a vote for development': PM Modi lauds Nitish Kumar's 'remarkable' leadership, slams RJD's jungle raj
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the sweeping victory of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar as a vote for development, investment and industrialisation as well as a vindication of its fight against the RJD-Congress “jungle raj” that had plagued the state in the past. He slammed the BJP’s political opponents for raking up divisive issues for their appeasement politics and emphasised that the victory in Bihar paved the way for the end of similar jungle raj in TMCled West Bengal next year.

Modi praised Bihar chief minister and JDU chief Nitish Kumar for his “remarkable leadership,” followed by an acknowledgement of the work done by deputy chief ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha (both BJP) as well as allies Jitan Ram Manjhi (HAM), Upendra Kushwaha (RLM) and Chirag Paswan (LJPRV).
The Prime Minister described the “massive mandate” as a vote for development, industrialisation and employment in the coming months and expressed his gratitude to MY—mahila and youth—for supporting the NDA.
He also underlined that he had begun the BJP’s campaign from backward caste leader Karpoori Thakur’s village while hailing the late Jayaprakash Narayan and his inspiring leadership. “I had said several times during the election campaign that jungle raj and rule of the gun will not return to the state,” Modi said.

“While RJD never opposed my words, Congress used to get worked up every time. Katta (country gun) sarkar will never return to Bihar,” Modi said.
Thanking the people for breaking state polling records, the Prime Minister said there was a time when voting would end at 3 in the afternoon in the Naxalite parts of Bihar. During jungle raj, elections would be countermanded several times, there would be violence and looting of ballot boxes but there has been no repolling this time, he added. “This victory is a pledge to take Bihar to new heights of development… ,” Modi said.
The Prime Minister assured the people of Bihar that the NDA government will fulfill their hopes and aspirations. This is a rejection of appeasement politics and the flag bearers of the Red Corridor (Maoists), Modi asserted, adding that it was a vote for rapid development. He insisted that this is the appropriate time for investors to come to Bihar, assuring the youth that more jobs will be created in the near future.

‘PUBLIC TRUST WINS’
Raking up the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls that had stirred a controversy with the opposition terming it an attempt to purge the voters’ list, the Prime Minister said the results show the youth have taken the exercise seriously and supported it strongly. He also praised the Election Commission of India for its work on this front and hoped it would be a success nationwide.
“Bihar has shown lies lose and public trust wins. These results show that people will not support those who are out on bail,” Modi said, alluding to the Nehru-Gandhi and Lalu Prasad families. Slamming the RJD, he underscored that its government had maintained that people do not need roads and highways, industry or stations and airports.
Modi maintained that after the decline in the NDA tally in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, people were unhappy with the outcome and have made up for it through victories in assembly elections in Maharashtra, Haryana, Delhi and now Bihar. “The Ganges reaches Bengal from Bihar.

This victory has opened the path to victory in Bengal. We will overthrow the jungle raj in West Bengal,” Modi said. The Prime Minister attacked the Congress, describing it as a political parasite that eats its allies and hence is becoming a liability for them.
“RJD is in shock today. The infighting between it and Congress will come out in the open soon,” he said, adding that Rahul Gandhi is sinking his allies with himself. Welcomed by enthusiastic BJP supporters and workers at the party headquarters here on Friday evening, the Prime Minister waved a gamcha (cotton towel that is ubiquitous in Bihar) at the crowd in a symbolic gesture. In another local connect, he began his speech with obeisance to Chhatti Maiya in whose name the state holds its biggest festival post-Diwali.
