Railways Claims Victory in National Women's Hockey Championship

New Delhi, October 4: The Railways Sports Promotion Board emerged victorious in the 5th Hockey India Senior Women Inter-Department National Championship 2025, defeating the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. – Women on Saturday.


The Sports Authority of India secured third place in the tournament, clinching the bronze medal by overcoming the Central Board of Direct Taxes at Shivaji Stadium in New Delhi, according to a press release from Hockey India.


In the championship match, the Railways Sports Promotion Board dominated the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. – Women with a score of 5-1. Navneet Kaur showcased her skills by netting a hat-trick at the 9th, 21st, and 54th minutes, leading her team to a convincing win. Additionally, Salima Tete (39') and Sangita Kumari (52') contributed with a goal each, further extending their lead. Jyoti (60') managed to score a consolation goal for Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. – Women, concluding their campaign with a silver medal.


In the battle for bronze, the Sports Authority of India triumphed over the Central Board of Direct Taxes with a score of 4-1. Varitka Rawat made a significant impact by scoring two goals at the 16th and 46th minutes, while her teammates, Captain Aishwarya Chavan (39') and Prini Kandir (41'), each added a goal. The Central Board of Direct Taxes' lone goal came from Vaishnavi Vitthal Phalke (44').
