This Morning chaos as Dermot O'Leary doubles over in pain on air: 'I'm so sorry'
Friday's episode of This Morning saw Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond in high spirits, until a dance to Chesney Hawkes' The One and Only left Dermot doubled over in pain. Alison looked worried as Dermot yelled out: "OW! Oh man!".
"Did I step on your foot?" Alison enquired, to which Dermot responded with a resounding: "Yes!" Alison replied: "I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry," before Dermot asked her to reveal her heels.
"I've put on a bit of weight this summer. I've been enjoying a few patties in Jamaica. Bit of rice and peas - I'm so sorry. You alright love? I do apologise," she later joked, reports the Mirror.
"That was unforgivable. Ooh. That heel. Urgh, that is a sharp wedge," he retorted before welcoming viewers back after the commercial break. Alison and Dermot started their roles as regular Friday presenters in 2021, and their on-screen rapport has been a hit with daytime viewers ever since.
When her role was announced, Alison said: "I never dreamt that when I first joined This Morning - initially for a few months - that I would still be there 19 years later.
"I genuinely care about the show and the viewers who watch, so it's a huge privilege and honour to be hosting a show I adore so much. I'm just really excited to be doing even more of what I love alongside the lovely Dermot."
Earlier this summer, Alison was substituted by debut host and former Love Island celebrity Olivia Attwood, whilst she enjoyed a summer hiatus.
This wasn't the star's inaugural major daytime television role, having become a regular panellist on Loose Women in August 2023.
Viewers flocked to X, previously Twitter, following her first appearance, with numerous fans describing her as a 'brilliant addition' to the presenting team.
One delighted viewer wrote: "Love to see Olivia is presenting on #thismorning great addition!" whilst another concurred: "Loving Olivia!"
"Good to see you in the show. You are doing great," a third fan tweeted about the former Love Island celebrity.
Others expressed astonishment at their positive reaction to the star's presenting skills, with one admitting: "Don't shoot me down but I actually like Olivia presenting!".
