Drowning Incident in Sindhudurg District

On Friday, a tragic incident occurred in Maharashtra's Sindhudurg district, where three members of a family drowned in the Arabian Sea, while four others remain unaccounted for. The victims were enjoying a picnic at the time of the accident. Authorities have initiated a search and rescue operation, and four bodies have already been recovered from the sea. This unfortunate event took place around 4 PM at the Shiroda-Velagar beach, located over 490 kilometers from Mumbai.

The police reported that eight family members were on the picnic. Two of them stayed in Kudala (Sindhudurg), while the other six had traveled from Belgaum (Karnataka). All eight individuals entered the sea for swimming. However, shortly after, they began to struggle due to the depth of the water being underestimated. Upon receiving the alert, police and local disaster management teams commenced rescue efforts. Officials stated that during the search, three bodies were recovered, while four individuals are still missing. The search for the remaining four continued into the evening.
