Twinkle Khanna Recalls Being Called Rishi Kapoor's Illegitimate Daughter, Alia Bhatt Goes Blank
On the latest episode of Two Much With Kajol and Twinkle, featuring Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan as guests, Twinkle Khanna recalled an awkward yet hilarious moment from the past, involving Alia’s father-in-law. This was about an online rumour about her being Rishi Kapoor’s illegitimate daughter that had caused chaos in the past.
The actress-turned-author was interacting with Alia on the latest episode of her new chat show. And that’s when Twinkle shared this anecdote — A seemingly innocent birthday wish by the late Rishi Kapoor was misinterpreted and social media users started speculating that she was his illegitimate daughter.
Twinkle Khanna joked how she almost became a Kapoor because of Alia’s father-in-law. A quirky birthday post by him, which was meant to reminisce the time he filmed with her mother, Dimple Kapadia, was misinterpreted online.
“Happy Happy Birthday dear one! You were in your mum’s tummy when I was serenading her in Bobby in 1973 lol,” he wrote. There was so much confusion and speculation afterwards, Rishi himself had to step in and clarify. After all, some people had concluded that Twinkle Khanna was his illegitimate daughter.
Alia had an awkward expression as Twinkle made the revelations. So the latter chimed in to say, “I am not your sister-in-law, it was a mistake.” Varun added, “She doesn't know how to react.”
To clear the air, Rishi Kapoor had later explained, “Kuch logon ko problem kya hai? Kakaji and Dimple were married, Bobby was still incomplete, we shot that song when Dimple was 3 months pregnant. Kakaji-Dimple married in March '73. Bobby released Sept 28th '73. Twinkle born 29th Dec '73.”
Two Much With Kajol and Twinkle is a talk show with Kajol and Twinkle Khanna as the hosts. The first episode featured Salman Khan and Aamir Khan while Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt indulged in candid conversations in the second episode.
