What's new on Amazon Prime in September 2025 with bumper crop of spy thrillers

Fans of espionage dramas are in for a treat this month as Prime Video drops a slew of some the best spy movies of recent years on the streaming platform. All four of Matt Damon's Jason Bourne movies will hit along with the recent Michael Fassbender and Cate Blanchett offering Black Bag, which was only released in March this year. If you prefer your spies more slapstick then the Coen Brothers offering Burn After Reading should keep you entertained. If thrillers are more your thing brand new series The Girlfriend starring Robin Wright and Olivia Cooke is also scheduled to land.

However the biggest launch on the streamer this month is the second season of The Boys spin off Gen V. Set on a campus where superheroes in training study, this season it has the difficult task of addressing the tragic death of cast member Chance Perdomo who sadly died aged just 27 after being involved in a motorcycle accident in March 2024.

The Coen Brother's 2009 black spy comedy Burn After Reading is another star studded affair featuring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, John Malkovich, and Frances McDormand. It follows Malkovic's recently jobless CIA analyst, Osborne Cox whose misplaced memoirs are found by a pair of dimwitted gym employees played by Frances McDormand and Brad Pitt who mistakenly think the memoirs are classified government documents and try to profit from their find.
