Netanyahu Has Postponed His India Trip Once More, Citing ‘Security Concerns’ in the Aftermath of the New Delhi Terror Attack
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has once again postponed his planned visit to India, a trip that was expected to take place later this year for a high-level meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The delay comes in the wake of the recent terror attack in New Delhi, which killed at least 10 people and injured dozens, making it the deadliest attack in the capital in over ten years.
According to Israeli media, the visit scheduled for December 2025 has been put on hold due to heightened security concerns. "Netanyahu, who last visited India in 2018 and was set to return for meetings with PM Modi, is now expected to seek a new date next year pending security assessments," i24NEWS reported, citing sources familiar with the decision.
This is not the first time Netanyahu has postponed the trip. In fact, it marks the third cancellation in 2025 alone. The Israeli prime minister had previously scrapped a one-day visit planned for September 9, citing conflicts with preparations for Israel’s unprecedented repeat elections on September 17. A similar cancellation occurred earlier in the year ahead of the April polls.
Within Israel, the proposed India visit was seen as part of Netanyahu’s broader effort to reinforce his global stature. Back in July, his party featured campaign posters displaying Netanyahu alongside PM Modi, US President Donald Trump, and Russian President Vladimir Putin, portraying him as a leader who operates in a “different league” internationally.
As he continues to emphasize national security and strong relationships with major global leaders in his re-election messaging, Netanyahu is expected to revisit the India trip once security evaluations allow. For now, both nations await a rescheduled date as diplomatic coordination continues.
