UK to question Tinder, Grindr on age checks over rape cases

The UK’s digital secretary Jeremy Wright plans to question dating apps Tinder and Grindr about “measures to keep children safe from harm” which include age verification. This comes after a report that police investigated over 30 child rape cases since 2015 where victims evaded age checks on dating apps. Further, Wright said he may take action if he wasn’t satisfied with apps’ response.
However, it is not certain how the UK would crack down if it found negligence, but there is a template already in place. Meanwhile, the country is rolling out a mandatory age verification system for porn.
