Expenditure observers for city, Akbarpur take charge

Kanpur: To ensure free, fair, transparent and safe conduct of Lok Sabha elections-2024 in the district, observers have been appointed by the Election Commission of India, out of whom four observers have arrived in the district.

Expenditure observers appointed for Kanpur Lok Sabha constituency include Nayan Jyotinath and Anirudh.

For Akbarpur Lok Sabha constituency Akash Shankar and Y Vishnu Vardhan Reddy took the charge as observers in the presence of district election officer/District Magistrate Rakesh Kumar Singh.

A meeting was held with assistant expenditure observers, Flying Surveillance Team (FST), Static Surveillance Team (SST), Video Surveillance Team (VST), Video Viewing Team (VVT) and nodal officers of various enforcement departments.

In the meeting, the district election officer informed the observers that in every assembly in the district, 03-03 FST and SST teams are working for 08-08 hours at a time. He further informed that a Complaint Cell (Control Room) Media Cell/Social Media Cell has been active since the announcement of Elections.

District Election Officer/DM instructed them that while doing videography in public meetings, processions and nomination processions by the video surveillance team, special care should be taken that while recording the vehicles, their registration number and model must be recorded, so that there can be proof of how many vehicles were involved.

“The video provided by the video surveillance team should be studied seriously so that the actual expenditure can be added to the expenditure of the candidate,” said DM further. He further said that the Assembly constituencies where no seizure action has been taken by the teams or has been reduced should be reviewed. Also, if amount of more than ten lakh rupees is seized then it must be informed to the Income Tax Department, he said and added, “Work should be done in coordination by VVT and VST teams.”
