Farmer commits suicide in Latur district

NPnews24 Online Latur: An ageing 65-year-old farmer, who had loan problems, allegedly committed suicide in Latur district in Maharashtra, according to a police official on Monday. The deceased was identified as Suryabhan alias Baburao Jadhav (65).

The official informed, “The farmer had allegedly hanged himself from a tree on Saturday at Hippalgaon in Ahmedpur taluka of Latur.”

“The deceased farmer has taken a loan from a bank and few private money lenders. He was unable to return it and hence, was troubled because of the reason,” the official further stated. According to the police official, Jadhav also had a fight with his son-in-law.

“He had a scuffle with his son-in-law just one day before he tragically ended his life,” the official informed.

An investigation is going on to determine the exact reason behind his desperate step, the official added.

Recently, the phenomenon of the suicide of the farmers in Maharashtra and other parts of the country is one of the most tragic events in the history of India.
