Filling station to supply more water to Ordnance Factory Medak

HYDERABAD: After nearly three weeks, the Ordnance Factory Medak (OFM) is getting water through additional tankers. With the distance to a new filling station getting reduced by 25km, the Water board is able to increase frequency of tankers and to ensure more supplies to OFM.

“We operated tankers to supply Osmansagar water by travelling 50km to reach OFM.

Now, with the new filling station in place, the distance has come down to 25km,” HMWS&SB general manager (O&M division), Patancheru , G Ramakrishna said. Water board opened the filling station (Osmansagar conduit) mainly to reduce the distance between Osmansagar and OFM so that more tankers could be run. OFM along with Bharat Dynamics Ltd have been facing water shortage for some time. “OFM requires 5,400 kilo litres of water per day. Currently, we are operating 40 trips (1,100 KL) through tankers to OFM and quantity will go up by another 1,000 KL to quench the thirst of the 15,000 people staying there,” a senior official said.
