Filmmaker Suman Kittur has a lockdown wedding

Director Suman Kittur who had made Pondicherry her home in recent years has quietly entered wedlock. Suman tied the knot with software engineer and photographer Srinivas on April 17 in an intimate affair attended only by close family members. The couple manager to keep their wedding under wraps for over a month, until news popped up on social media this week.


“Given the current situation, we didn’t want to have a big celebratory ceremony, hence, we had a private ceremony in Puducherry . We didn’t make a big deal of it because it didn’t feel right, but when my husband changed his marital status on social media over this weekend, everybody got to know,” says Suman.
In fact, the duo was originally supposed to get married in Kuppalli, as Srinivas is from Shimoga. “We had made all the arrangements for a simple wedding, but owing to the lockdown we had to cancel those plans. We then chose to get married in an even more intimate setting in my home near Auroville, and then formally registered the wedding at the local registrar office. Both our families were present. It was a perfect lockdown wedding,” Suman tells us.
As for how the two met, the director shares that they crossed paths at various family get-togethers and had become good friends. “Our families also approved and we took the next big step. Since Srinivas’s mother lives in Mysuru, we might shift there or Bengaluru once the lockdown is over,” she states.
