Fire officer, aide caught taking bribe

Ahmedabad: The anti-corruption bureau registered a case against Nilesh Patel , a regional fire officer Class I in Vadodara, and Apruvasinh Mahida , a resident of Karjan. Officials said the complainant in this case had applied to Patel’s office for a fire safety no-objection certificate. Patel then demanded a bribe of Rs. 2.25 lakh.

The complainant contacted the ACB and a trap was set. Officials said Patel engaged the complainant in conversation and asked for the bribe to be paid to Mahida, who accepted it on Patel’s behalf. Both Patel and Mahida were arrested. tnn
