Forest officer kills self over harassment

Hyderabad: A 32-year-old deputy forest range officer from Mohammedabad town in Mahbubnagar district allegedly committed suicide due to alleged domestic harassment on Wednesday.

The victim, Wahida Begum, 32, was deputy forest range officer of Mohammedabad area. According to Mahbubnagar police, Wahida consumed pesticide at her house in Mohammedabad on Wednesday afternoon and she was declared brought dead at Mahbubnagar government hospital.

“There was no suicide note. Family members of Wahida alleged that she ended her life due to harassment from her husband, a clerk with the forest department,” Mahbubnagar Rural police said. A case was registered under Section 498-A and 306 of the IPC. No arrests have been made yet.
