Foundation day event: CM announces hike in allowances of outsourced employees

DEHRADUN: Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Saturday made a slew of announcements, including a hike in allowances of outsourced employees and ‘shilpkar’ (craftsmen) community, during the event held at city’s Parade Ground to mark the state’s 19th foundation day.

The CM announced that the daily wages for outsourced employees has been increased from Rs 400 to Rs 500 per day and for artisans living in villages, it has been hiked from Rs 400 to Rs 600.

Addressing the gathering, he said, “Over 8,000 outsourced employees working with UPNL would now be paid Rs 500 per day and allowance for ‘shilpkar’ community has been increased from Rs 400 per month to Rs 600 per month.”

Stressing the state government’s commitment to provide high nutritional diet to school-going students, the CM said, “Now, the children of poor families within the age bracket of 3-6 years would be considered primary school students. In the six working days of a week, they will be served with milk, bananas, and eggs, each for two days.” He added that the state government also plans to ensure a CM border area development fund to help the people living in villages situated on the Indo-Nepal border or Sino-Indian border.

“The state government has also decided to provide greater funds for cattle life insurance. We will also be carrying out an agricultural land survey in Uttarakhand for the first time since 1961. The pilot project would first start in two districts — Pauri Garhwal and Almora ,” said CM Rawat.
