Four stolen cars reach King George's Medical University

LUCKNOW: Four of the eight high-end vehicles whisked away from a used car showroom in Badshahnagar on Tuesday were found parked on the premises of King George's Medical University (KGMU) on Wednesday. Two persons have been arrested.

While Dubagga residents Deepak Chaurasia (23), an employee of another resale showroom in Lalbagh, and Ramji Shukla (20), a driver, have been taken into custody, prime suspect Ranjeet and a fourth aide are still at large.

"The stolen BMW X3, Audi Q3, Ford Endeavor and one of the two Hyundai i20s have been recovered. Teams are looking for the other vehicles," SSP Kalanidhi Naithani said.

Police said Ranjeet, a native of Shravasti, had a criminal record. He was arrested in February for stealing a Fortuner from a store on Ring Road in December 2018.

Ranjeet's number was put on surveillance and that led cops to Deepak and Ramji. The duo told police that they had a wish list for 12 cars, but managed to steal eight. The stolen vehicles were 'hidden' amid other cars at KGMU.

Trans-Gomti ASP Rajesh Srivastava said the fleet was caught on cameras on Badshahnagar-Nishatganj-Daliganj route. "The cars were to be smuggled out to Nepal via Bihar after registration plates were changed," he added.
