Gang war over parking kills man in Panchkula

PANCHKULA: One person has been killed and another injured in a gang war in Panchkula on Thursday.


The victim has been identified as Gurvinder Singh, 35. He was declared brought dead at the Panchkula civil hospital. His cousin Gurjit Singh has sustained injuries.

"The 11 accused have been arrested in the case following the complaint of Gurjit," said deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Mohit Handa.



The accused have been identified as Kuldeep alias Channi, Happu, Gurmit alias Gummi, Keechu, Kulvir, Rangpal, Lovely Jagga, Sattu, Achhar, Gunga and Peelu Raju. They have been arrested under Sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 341, 148, 149, 506 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code at Pinjore police station.

The DCP said the two groups had an old rivalry over dominance of a passage in their locality. He said following the complaint of one of the injured persons, the police have arrested the 11 accused and booked the other 12 unknown persons.

According to the police, the two groups had allegedly attacked each other around three months ago for which an FIR has already been registered at Pinjore police station. On Thursday, around 7.30 pm, all the accused riding motorcycles and armed with sharp-edged weapons allegedly attacked Gurvinder and Gurjit, who were also riding a motorcycle at Surajpur village near Pinjore.

The police said the cause of rivalry was to get dominance of a passage for parking cars.
