Recently, an incident has surfaced in which Ricky from ZER0BASEONE (ZB1), a K-pop group under WakeOne Entertainment, was publicly reprimanded by the group's manager during a livestream. This incident has sparked disappointment and anger among fans. ZER0BASEONE, also known as ZB1, was formed through Mnet's reality show Boys Planet and consists of Jiwoong, Zhang Hao, Hanbin, Matthew, Taerae, Ricky, Gyuvin, Gunwook, and Yujin.

What happened during the livestream?

On October 31, during their live interaction with ZEROBASEONE's fans, Ricky, Gyuvin, and Gunwook, with their towering and robust physiques, found it impossible to fit within a single frame. Consequently, Ricky opted to go live using a separate device, while Gyuvin and Gunwook utilized a shared one. Approximately twelve minutes into the livestream, Ricky was prompted to check a KakaoTalk message sent by Gunwook.

Upon receiving instructions from the management to conclude his livestream, Ricky immediately received a message from Gunwook, resulting in Ricky apologizing to the fans and announcing the termination of the livestream, unable to continue any further. Subsequently, Gyuvin joined Gunwook's ongoing livestream.

During Gyuvin's livestream, observant fans detected the presence of background yelling. As assumed, the management's voice could be discerned scolding Ricky in a haughty tone, "You didn't tell us and started the live, do you understand what I'm saying?" This condescending behavior from the manager provoked the ire of viewers who were watching the livestream.

Fans were filled with outrage and demanded appropriate action.

The reprimand remained audible until the conclusion of Gunwook's livestream, leaving fans incensed by the treatment inflicted upon ZEROBASEONE's Ricky for a seemingly trivial matter, especially as the other members were present in the room. Swiftly resorting to the micro-blogging site X (formerly Twitter), they expressed their ire and dissatisfaction with the injustice endured by Ricky.

Several individuals even highlighted that this was not the initial occurrence of Ricky enduring discrimination from the management. They further illuminated the xenophobic behavior directed at the Chinese members of the group by the management, highlighting the differential treatment Ricky receives regarding schedules. Consequently, they are urging WakeOne Entertainment, the agency of ZEROBASEONE, to release an apology or a statement addressing the situation.
