Google Meet now allow users to hide tiles without videos

Google has rolled out a new update for Google Meet which will allow users to hide tiles with no videos in a meeting. The tech giant has added an option to layouts, so that users can change their layouts to avoid cluttering the screen if they are interested to only see the participants with their videos on.

With this new update, Google aims to help reduce screen clutter and focus on video-enabled participants, meanwhile users with their videos off can be shown on screen if they speak.

How to use the feature
In order to use this feature, users can go to Settings> Change layout. This setting only affects your view. Other participants won't be affected and can choose their own layouts. Participants without video will still appear on your screen if they start speaking.

The company has started rolling out the feature for Google Workspace customers and for users with personal Google accounts.

Meanwhile, Google Meet is broadening its ultra-low latency live streaming feature, offering users a "virtually lag-free streaming experience" characterised by enhanced speaker video resolution, improved automatic camera cuts prioritising relevant speakers and content, and additional enhancements.
