Goon Ambekar booked for raping son's classmate

Nagpur: The city police registered a third offence against top goon Santosh Ambekar on Friday. He has now been accused of molesting and raping his son’s former classmate who is now a dentist. Earlier, offences of fraud and cheating were registered at two different police stations against Ambekar for his alleged role in duping two Gujarat businessmen.

An offence was also registered against Ambekar’s nephew Nilesh Kedar at Khapa for his alleged role in abducting a Saoner businessman over a monetary dispute.

The Lakadganj police have slapped rape and molestation charges against Ambekar following a complaint by a 23-year-old woman. She was being exploited by Ambekar since she was a 14 year old.

The survivor was befriended by Ambekar in 2011 when she used to visit his son. Ambekar lured her with money and gifts. He also enticed her with the promise to get her treated for some skin ailment.

Ambekar used to take the woman to a hotel in Ghatkopar in Mumbai on some pretext. She was also taken to Bengaluru by Ambekar where they stayed together at a resort. The goon used to make her travel under threats.

In another development, three hawala operators were among the ones arrested in a Rs 5 crore fraud case registered at Sitabuldi police station. Arvind Patel from Gujarat, Ajay Patel from Mumbai and another person have been arrested. The three were remanded to police custody till October 23.
