Green job courses to be introduced at ITIs

Indore: Growing acceptance towards sustainable practices in businesses and thrust to EV and solar has led to a rise in demand for green jobs, prompting the state’s technical education department to mull over taking up courses on green jobs.

In wake of rising demand for green skills in the workforce, department of technical education is looking to add courses on green jobs at the Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) of the state.

“The world is moving towards a green sustainable concept, and this has led to a significant rise in jobs in the green category like EV, renewable energy, solar, zero waste concept and others. To encash the growing market, we are planning to introduce courses on green jobs in ITIs,” said a senior officials of state technical education department.

The department is also planning to sign agreements with different institutes working in the green energy segment.

“World Skill Council has rolled out 14 trades in MP but there are many more that can be introduced in the state and may get a good response. We are exploring options to start more trades in collaborations with institutions working in the green segment,” said the senior official.

The department is also eyeing collaboration with industries working in the renewable sector and green energy.

“Green jobs opportunities are growing across fields like automobile, renewable energy, infrastructure and agriculture. People need skilled workforce in these sectors and the requirement is expected to grow in the long run,” said the official.
