Gurugram: Two KMP toll staffers flee with Rs 10 lakh, booked

Gurgaon: Two men working at the KMP toll plaza near Manesar were booked for allegedly fleeing with Rs 10 lakh — the day’s collection at the toll plaza — on Tuesday night .

According to the police, toll plaza manager Kuldeep Singh filed a complaint against the two on Wednesday. “The total collection at the toll plaza for a 24-hour period is around Rs 10-12 lakh.

This amount is handed over to the accountant at the end of the day. On Tuesday, Shanky Singh and Shashank Pandey were on duty at the toll plaza. However, after their shift ended they did not deposit the amount,” Kuldeep told police.

The manager waited for the two to report on duty the next day but they didn’t. “We are doubtful that few other employees hired at the toll plaza might also be involved in the theft,” he added.

An FIR has been registered in the case at the Bilaspur police station under sections 407 (criminal breach of trust) and 37 (co-operation by doing one or several acts constituting an offence) of the IPC.

Sources revealed that the Shanky and Shashank were working for the agency — RK Jain Enterprise pvt limited — which was hired by HSIIDC for toll collection. While Pandey had been working for over a month, Shanky was hired five days ago. TOI has learnt that the agency had not done a background verification for both.
