Anil Kumar, the area officer from forest department, said, “Two trees had fallen in front of deputy commissioner’s house and three on the National Highways. We immediately removed the obstructions on receiving the intimation.”

When questioned why the fully grown trees are getting uprooted from their roots in Ambala, Anil said, “In the recent past, the water level of Ambala area has come up due to heavy rain and at some low-lying areas, the roots are losing their strength due to the wetness of the ground.”

Shiv Kumar, a resident of New Pratap Nagar in Baldev Nagar area of Ambala, told, “The electricity supply was affected at around 4pm and we had to sit in our house without any supply till around 12.00am. It was Krishan Janamashtmi and we continuously called the emergency numbers and they were engaged.”

Residents of Jasmeet Nagar and Geeta Nagri also suffered electricity supply issue for long hours.

The officials of the electricity department said due to strong winds some trees had fallen in the city areas and they had affected the electricity supply. “Our teams worked to identify the faults during the night hours and also started the jumpers where it took more time to solve the issues,” said the officials from Model Town office of electricity department.
