Haryana: Two sarpanchs suspended for fraud in Ambala

AMBALA: The Ambala district administration in Haryana on Wednesday suspended two sarpanchs for misappropriation of public funds.

Sarpanch Karam Chand of Miyan Majra village and Lakhwinder Singh of Ujjal Majri village under Naraingarh block of Ambala district have been suspended and they are barred from taking part in any village related works or meeting under Section 51 (2) (suspension and removal of a Sarpanch and shall not take part in any act or proceeding of the Gram Panchayat during the period of his suspension and shall hand over the records, money or any other property of the Gram Panchayat in his possession or under his control) of the Haryana Panchayati Raj Act, 1994.

Miyan Majra village Sarpanch has been suspended for embezzlement of Rs 6.55 lakh meant for the construction of SC Chaupal.

Ujjal Majri village Sarpanch has been suspended under the charges of embezzlement of Rs 10.73 lakh.
