HC grants advance bail to Aranthangi MLA
Madurai: The Madurai bench of Madras high court granted anticipatory bail to Aranthangi MLA who was booked for his provocative speech against chief government whip and assembly speaker.
In his petition, Aranthangi MLA E Rathinasabapathy, mentioned that the complaint was registered against him with a political motive.
He sought for an anticipatory bail from the HC citing that he would abide by the conditions of the court. Hearing the plea, Justice M Dhandapani granted anticipatory bail to Rathinasabapathy.
Rathinasabapathy, a supporter of TTV Dhinakaran, was booked by Karaikudi South police for his provocative speech against chief government whip S Rajendran and assembly speaker P Dhanapal during a recent AMMK party function held Karaikudi in Sivaganga district on February 28. After the video of Rathinasabapathy’s speech went viral in social media, a case was registered based on a complaint from AIADMK district lawyer unit deputy secretary Balamurugan. TNN
