Heavy rain: NMR services cancelled for four days

UDHAGAMANDALAM: Southern railway has cancelled all services on the NMR line for four days from Tuesday owing to rain related disturbances on the track.

Three passenger trips between Ooty and Coonoor and three trips in the return direction have been cancelled for four days from Tuesday, according to a press release from Southern railway.

Also, the connecting train service for the Nilgiri Express from Ooty to Mettupalayam and Mettupalayam to Ooty have also been cancelled for four days from October 22 to 25.

Owing to heavy rain in the past week in the Nilgiris, the NMR track has suffered landslips and boulder fall. Restoration work of the mountain rail track is underway. Hence, the mountain train services have been cancelled, added the press release.
