Massive Protests Erupt in New York Against US Strikes on Iran
On Sunday, Americans gathered in large numbers to voice their opposition to the recent military strikes by the US on critical nuclear sites in Iran. Demonstrations took place in New York City and outside the Oval Office, with heightened security measures in place. Hundreds of protesters marched through the streets, brandishing placards and Palestinian flags, with messages like “Hands Off Iran” and “Stop The War On Iran” prominently displayed.
The military operation, dubbed 'Operation Midnight Hammer', specifically targeted three significant nuclear facilities in Iran: Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. Reports indicate that protests are likely to persist in cities such as Washington DC, Boston, and New York. Demonstrators also directed their calls at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, urging him to cease military actions against Iran and the ongoing assault on Gaza.
Earlier in the day, the New York City Police Department (NYPD) announced that they were increasing their presence at key locations throughout the city. In a statement on X, the NYPD mentioned, “We’re monitoring the situation in Iran closely. As a precaution, we are deploying extra resources to religious, cultural, and diplomatic sites across NYC and working in coordination with federal partners. We will keep an eye on any potential impacts to the city.”
On Sunday evening, US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed the successful execution of 'Operation Midnight Hammer', which targeted three nuclear sites in Iran.
