Horrifying footage shows thug punching teen on city bus in front of terrified passengers

A defenceless teen was brutally assaulted by a thug at the back of a bus in front of horrified passengers.

The vicious attack is thought to have happened in Dundee on Sunday on the top deck of one of the city's Xplore public transport vehicles.

Shocking footage was shared on Snapchat showing a hooded male dressed in all black repeatedly pummeling away a youngster who was seated alone at the top of the bus.

The boy appears to cower in fear as his attacker stands over him before repeatedly punching his head, face and body. Once passengers understood what was happening they then rushed over to intervene in the attack, reports Daily Record.

The shaky, short video clip shows a woman moving towards the pair, as a man follows closely behind. One woman is heard screaming: "Stop. Get off him. F*** sake." While another man screams: "Off him. Off."

Several people try to calm the assailant down before the man is seen grabbing him around the waist and dragging him away from the helpless boy. He appears to show no remorse for what just happened.

It is unclear why the fight broke out as there did not appear to be an argument taking place beforehand. The brutal video, shared with the caption: 'We just ran threw [sic] the buss [sic] ahaha llf', was then posted on Twitter and has since been viewed almost 75,000 times.

One user commented: "Fair play to the girl and guy at least helped," while another added: "This free bus s****e needs to be reviewed it’s causing havoc all over Scotland."

Elsewhere, bus drivers facing rising abuse say bosses are not helping them. As many as eight out of 10 have been verbally abused – with one in six suffering a physical attack. Three-quarters surveyed by union Unite accused bus operators of not taking complaints seriously.

One employee in Wales said: “I was assaulted in my cab after questioning a person about a fare. “After this I received abuse. I was spat at and had a vape thrown at me. “This was reported to the police but Arriva was not interested.” Another driver added: “I was assaulted and it was classed as a ‘low event’ as it only lasted one-and-a-half minutes. Days later, I was robbed and it was deemed an otherwise uneventful journey, even though I was taunted and shouted at.”

The Mirror contacted Police Scotland for comment.
