Hyderabad: Beneficiaries of pension to be identified by July 25

Hyderabad: The GHMC has set July 25 as the deadline to identify Aasara Old Age Pension beneficiaries in the city. The identification is being done as CMK Chandrasekhar Rao decreased the eligibility age from 65 years to 57 years.

“People between 57 and 64 years on the electoral roll published on November 19 shall be considered as additional beneficiaries,” said M Dana Kishore, GHMC commissioner at a meeting held with civic officials at the GHMC head office.

All the criteria, which determine ineligibility will remain the same, including the one which states that if annual income of a family is more than Rs l.5 lakh in rural areas and Rs 2 lakh in urban areas, they will not be eligible for the pension.

Beneficiaries will be shortlisted by collectors, and the list shall be handed over to panchayat secretaries in rural areas and to bill collectors in urban areas for verification of ineligibility.

A draft list of eligible persons will be released soon.
