IIT-Kanpur launches department probe in harassment case

KANPUR: The internal complaints committee (ICC) of IIT-Kanpur , which was probing the sexual harassment charges levelled against a senior professor of the institute by a student of foreign origin, has completed its inquiry and submitted preliminary report to the institute administration. Subsequently, the institute ordered a departmental inquiry which has started.

The ICC report, according to IIT-K administration, was submitted recently.

Deputy director, IIT-Kanpur, Prof Manindra Agarwal said ICC investigated the case and submitted its preliminary report to the institute. "They (institute authorities) have instituted a formal departmental inquiry in the case," he said.
