Is BJP giving walkover to Mulayam in Mainpuri? BJP leader kicks off speculations

AGRA: Amid preparations of BSP-SP joint rally where BSP chief Mayawati would campaign for once-arch-rival SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav in Mainpuri on April 19, a tweet from a BJP leader has sparked speculations that senior leader Mulayam would get walkover or easy win from the Yadav bastion.

Controversial but senior BJP leader IP Singh on Friday tweeted that, “The courtesy speech of 'netaji' in the Parliament for the support of PM Modi will show a new colour in the Lok Sabha elections, BJP will not field any candidate from Mainpuri and Mulayam Singh Yadav will be elected unopposed."

Attempts were made to contact Singh, but his phone was switched off. Last year in October, Singh wrote to BJP chief Amit Shah , and demanded ticket from Lucknow Parliamentary constituency to contest in 2019 election in place of Union home minister Rajnath Singh .

Meanwhile, TOI contacted BJP state spokesperson Rakesh Tripathi to confirm about the latest development in the party for purportedly giving walkover to Mulayam. Tripathi said, “IP Singh is not executive committee member of BJP. The party will contest on all the 80 seats of the state.”

On February 13, Mulayam Singh had surprised everyone by saying, "I wish that PM Modi should become the prime minister again. I have experienced that whenever I met you, you got my work done instantly," during a speech on the last day of the 16th Lok Sabha.
