''It's A Bit Scary'', Will Jacks Reacts To 'Next AB de Villiers' Tag For RCB

Following his impressive century against GT at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Will Jacks reflected on the comparisons to AB de Villiers within RCB. Despite feeling the weight of such expectations, he embraced the role. RCB is set to meet GT in a crucial encounter on May 4th at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

During the RCB Insider Show, hosted by Mr.

Nags, Jacks discussed the prospect of becoming the next De Villiers for RCB. He praised De Villiers for his impact on the franchise and acknowledged the daunting task of stepping into his shoes. Nonetheless, he expressed his commitment to giving his all for the fans.

"It is a bit daunting, it is a bit scary (becoming the next AB de Villiers for RCB). AB de Villiers is an RCB legend, He is a world legend. It is a lot of weight, but I will just have to do what I can," Jacks said.

The England batsman delivered a remarkable innings during the chase of 201 runs against GT. Initially struggling against spin, he managed only 16 runs from 16 balls. However, he swiftly shifted gears, unleashing a barrage of strokes to score 83 runs off the next 24 balls, completing his IPL century in just 41 deliveries.

Jacks also discussed his selection for RCB in 2022 and reflected on his absence from the team in the previous season.

"I was at home and I was picked. It was amazing, but I got injured. Could not play last season. RCB fans are ridiculous," Jacks said.

Jacks stepped in to replace Glenn Maxwell, who took a brief break during IPL 2024. Speaking about his entry as Maxwell's replacement, Jacks humorously mentioned considering kicking Maxwell out while playing golf.

"I was happy to get rid of him (the all-rounder took a break after run of poor form), now that he is back I am under pressure. I was driving the buggy. Thought of kicking him out (on if he tried to injure Maxwell while playing golf)," Jacks told.

Adding Jack to the team significantly enhanced their batting arsenal. This versatile player has amassed 176 runs in 9 matches, boasting an impressive average of 44 and a remarkable strike rate of 191.30. Notably, he has secured a century and a half-century in the process.
