It's becoming clear now that BJP won't come back to power: TNCC chief

CHENNAI: The day when the more than 140 crore Indians will be free from the anti-people rule of BJP is not far, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K Selvaperunthagai said on Monday.

In a statement, Selvaperunthagai said BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh, have started slandering the Congress party’s manifesto because it is becoming clear that the party would not come back to power again.
“With the third phase of polling set to conclude, it is becoming clear now that BJP will not come to power again. And they are trying to indulge in divisional politics,” he said.

“They are saying that the reservation for backward classes and SC/STs will be taken away from them and given to the minority communities. They are trying to destroy the secular nature of the country through their divisional politics,” he said.

He said Modi continued to make derogatory remarks about India’s history. “He is not answering the questions raised by Congress leaders and, instead, is making demeaning remarks about them,” he said.

Selvaperunthagai said we could not expect the Election Commission of India, which was handpicked by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to act in an unbiased and fair manner.
