Jind: Body found in village pond

Jind: Police have booked unknown persons for killing a man and dumping his body in a pond after tying it with bricks and stones at Alewa village on Thursday in Jind district. Panic gripped the residents of Alewa village who gathered at the site of the incident and later informed the police.

Police have registered a case under sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence, or giving false information to screen offender) of the IPC on the complaint of former sarpanch Balbir Singh.

According to police the body seemed to have been dumped 5-6 days ago, and due to severely decomposed body it could become difficult to identify the accused. Police said the deceased appeared to be around 35-year-old and prima facie it seemed a case of murder.
