Job aspirants cheated of Rs 5cr by professor

Rajkot: A professor with Amreli Prataprai Arts College was booked for alleged Rs five crore fraud.

According to police, the accused, identified as Sanjay Dave, a resident of Madhu Mahel Apartment on Ghogha Road in Bhavnagar, had allegedly collected Rs five crore from 111 unemployed youths, promising them government jobs.

Dave was booked on the complaint of Kaushik Joshi, a resident of Agiyari village of Sihore taluka in Bhavnagar district.

In his complaint Joshi alleged that he had paid Dave Rs 20 lakh after Dave had promised him to get a class II government job. After several months when nothing materialized, Joshi started mounting pressure on Dave.

Dave then handed over an appointment letter to Joshi, which stated that Joshi had been appointed as the class II officer in the labour department.

“When Joshi cross checked with the concerned government department, he found that the letter was fake. Upon further investigation, he found out that Dave had duped many such youths. Then Joshi lodged a complaint against Dave. When we carried out an investigation, we found that Joshi had duped 111 youths. Once they approach us, we will record their statements as witnesses in this case,” said an official from Bhavnagar B division police station.
