Jon Bon Jovi admits 'rockstar cliche' as he 'hasn't been a saint' during 35-year marriage

Jon Bon Jovi opened up about his long-lasting relationship with his wife Dorothea Hurley and admitted he hasn't always "been a saint".

Reflecting on their 35-year marriage, the rock icon praised his high-school sweetheart for her "tolerance" with his demanding tour schedules.

"These are all the wonderful clichés of rock stardom,' he told

"It's about never lying about having been a saint, but not being a fool enough to [mess] up the home life, either."

Livin on a Prayer star also cited their long-lasting union to a "mutual admiration society, and being lucky enough to have grown up together."

The 62-year-old previously shared his regret about his unfaithfulness while touring in his 1993 song, Bed of Roses.

In the lyrics, he sings: "Now as you close your eyes/Know I'll be thinking about you/While my mistress she calls me/To stand in her spotlight again."

In 2007, Bon Jovi revealed he had to miss "tons of birthdays and school plays,"

due to his career.

He echoed to Best Life magazine: "I've been in one of the biggest rock bands in the world for 25 years, and I'm not a saint, and I have not been a saint."

The rockstar added: "It's not like Dorothea came in halfway through the movie and didn't know who she got."

Despite spending most of his career on the road, Bon Jovi insisted that despite his work, he has always been committed to his spouse, whom he married at Graceland Chapel in Las Vegas in 1989.

"I don't look at this week's hot starlet and think about trading in or trading up," he added.

"I don't have a mistress on the side or another family across town. You're never going to read that story about me. I have no regard for that whole lifestyle."

Together the couple share four children Stephanie, 30; Jesse, 28; Jake, 21; and Romeo, 19.
