Junagadh man beats estranged wife

Ahmedabad: A 29-year-old woman, resident of Bopal and executive of a pharmaceutical company, filed a complaint on Sunday against her husband alleging that he had beaten her for celebrating Friendship Day.

Urja Ghetia, a native of Junagadh, who stays in Balkeshwar Vihar society in Bopal, stated in her FIR with Vastrapur police that she had married Smit Bhadja on February 22, 2016.

They had stayed together for around six months but as her husband used to get into quarrels with her and expressed doubts about her character, she left the house and began staying with her parents. She had also filed a complaint of domestic violence against her husband at Bopal police station around two months ago.

On Sunday, she had gone to a cafe in Bodakdev area of the city to meet her friends on Friendship Day. When she was talking with her friends and having refreshments, Bhadja suddenly arrived and started abusing her, states the FIR.

Bhadja even threatened her friends alleging that Ghetia mingled with other men. When she confronted to him, Bhadja began beating her in front of her friends, adds the FIR.

Ghetia then approached Vastrapur police and filed a complaint of assault against her husband.
