Kalki raids find tainted income of Rs 600 crore

CHENNAI: I-T department sleuths have found undisclosed income to the tune of about Rs 600 crore during searches on the premises of spiritual guru ‘Kalki Bhagwan’ and his son in Andhra Pradesh , Tamil Nadu and Karnataka .


The department seized a total of Rs 65-crore unaccounted money (Rs 45 crore in INR and Rs 20 crore in currencies of other countries including US dollars) from the Kalki Ashram near Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh and 39 other places.

The searches that began on October 16 ended on Sunday.

On October 18, the I-T department had issued a statement saying it had seized Rs 43.9 crore in Indian currencies, foreign currencies worth Rs 18 crore and gold and diamond worth Rs 31 crore.

Kalki’s son, N K V Krishna , and other family members have been summoned by the department for questioning.
