Kamarajar remembered on his birth anniversary

Madurai: The 118th birth anniversary of late chief minister Kamarajar was celebrated by political parties, educational institutions and other organisations on Wednesday.

In Virudhunagar, district collector R Kannan paid tributes to the late leader and garlanded his statue at the Kamarajar Memorial.

The celebrations were organised along with the education development day and world youth skill development day in the Madurai Kamaraj University. Governor of Telangana Dr Tamilisai Soundarajan was the chief guest.

Vice-chancellor of Madurai Kamaraj University Prof M Krishnan delivered the presidential address.

Schools, which are conducting online classes, also paid respect to the late leader. Chairman of ManickaVasagam Middle School in Devakottai conducted competitions for its students as part of the celebrations.

Members of the Congress led by Tirunelveli urban district Congress secretary K Shankarapandian celebrated the day in Tirunelveli. They distributed sweets to the public and garlanded the statue of the late leader.
