Kanwariyas stop yatra for Bakrid namaz in Ayodhya

FAIZABAD: Setting an example of Hindu-Muslim bonhomie and communal harmony, a band of kanwariyas on Monday stopped their procession and waited till the namaz being offered at a masjid in Ayodhya ended.

Not only this, as the Muslim community members came out of Eidgah, kanwariyas exchanged Eid-ul-Zuha greetings and both the groups hugged each other.

Kanwariyas were in a procession on the last ‘Somvar’ of the holy month of Shrawan. As both the comuunity members embraced each other, they also chanted ‘Allah O Akbar’ and ‘Har

Har Mahadev’ to set an example of harmonious coexistence and fellowship.

Security had been heightened across the district in the view of Eid-ul-Zuha, also called Bakrid, coinciding with the last Monday of Shrawan, when devotees visit temples of Lord Shiva in large numbers.

Earlier, Faizabad district magistrate Anuj Kumar Jha and SSP Ashish Tiwari also greeted Muslims at Eidgah.

Talking to TOI, Faizabad SSP Ashish Tiwari said “Ayodhya is the land of communal harmony and Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb ... One can find many such examples of communal harmony and peaceful coexistence.”
