Karnataka: Gulbarga University cancels permission to Kanhaiya Kumar's programme

HUBBALLI: The Gulbarga University has cancelled the permission for a lecture programme which was to be attended by former JNU student union leader Kanhaiya Kumar .


Requesting to provide adequate security to the university campus to city police commissioner, acting vice-chancellor of the university Parimala Ambekar told that the lecture programme organised at Dr BR Ambedkar Study Institute was cancelled following oral orders from the government.



The letter reads “The order of the syndicate meeting, allowing form JNU leader allowing to give a lecture at the campus was revoked and following oral instruction of the government, Kanhaiya Kumar’s entry into the campus was also restricted. Hence the police should provide adequate security measures to the campus.”

Hailing the University’s decision of not allowing Kanhaiya Kumar to take part in the lecture programme Andola Mutt seer Siddalinga Swamiji described that the decision was a victory for Hindus and warned that they would not allow the university to become another JNU.

Security was beefed up in and around the Gulbarga University and the organisers have changed the event venue to Visveshwarayya Bhavan.
